WhisperRoom began not just as a product, but as the answer to a personal challenge faced by our founder, Ben White. In 1990, Ben discovered a passion for the saxophone after being inspired by a young musician playing by a lake in Columbia, Maryland. With no musical background, he decided to take lessons, fell in love with the instrument, and began practicing for hours each day.
There was only one problem: Ben lived in a condominium, and the sound of a beginner saxophonist wasn’t ideal for his neighbors. After a particularly memorable encounter with a neighbor who unknowingly critiqued his playing, Ben realized he needed a better solution. Determined to continue his musical journey without disturbing others, he designed and built a portable, modular sound isolation booth for his home — the very first WhisperRoom.
What started as a personal necessity quickly became an innovative solution for musicians, voice actors, broadcasters, and professionals across industries. Today, WhisperRoom continues to empower creativity by providing state-of-the-art sound isolation enclosures to people around the world.
